Japanese Toe has released a marvellous EP on Topshelf. 83 years ago, people were applauding when Hugo Eckener flew the Graf Zeppelin around the world, the first ever non-stop flight across the Pacific in just about 3 days, then continuing across 13 states in 2½ days…. nowadays bands are releasing albums across both ocean and continent no problem.

Brogrind is a wonderful 6-track split from party-math gig Noumenon and post-rock math Loose Lips Sink Ships.. a really good cocktail. Get it digital or as 12″ from looselipssinkships.bandcamp.com.
First track from Copenhagen progressive/instrumental trio Town Portal’s new album ‘Chronopoly’ is called ‘Uncle Genie’:
Buildings – Everything in Parallel:
Sockets Records from Washington DC has (well actually this was back in January) announced new records by Buildings and Imperial China. And there’s greatness from Deleted Scenes and Hume as well.
The new Three Mile Pilot Ep, “Maps” is awesome…
PTTRNS are making a second full-length. That’s big news. You can hear tracks off Science Piñata here:
PTTRNS – IN THE STUDIO SOON, NEW ALBUM EARLY 2013
Man, it’s been ages! So much the better we now are able to get a hint of goooood PTTRNS-related news out to the world. We just returned from a drastic weekend trip with PTTRNS and attended the two final shows for 2012 packed with a fresh, all-new set of songs. Okay, to be honest, we were a bit skeptic after we’ve been told that the new songs are a bit … ‘different’ before we heard them but all our worries were wiped away in an instant. We switched to drastic-dance-mode after the first couple of seconds… and couldn’t stop until our feet got sore. Even better: PTTRNS will lock themselves inside Dumbo Studios (again) together with Jan-Phillip Jansen pretty much now to record all those new tunes which then will be released as their full-lenght album number 2 in early 2013!!
Also, give their label mates, The Dropout Patrol a chance:
THE DROPOUT PATROL – ALBUM RELEASE IS NIGH

1: A first song off the album has been revealed by the band recently. It’s called “Find It At The Bottom Of The Lake” and it’s free and it’s downloadable and it has the word ‘Battleship’ in it! Grab it via the link-list below!
We’re still reeling over the news that PINBACK ARE FINALLY RELEASING A NEW RECORD!!! But we have to compose ourselves as there is so much amazing stuff happening between now and then that we can barely contain ourselves. So let’s get right to it!
…and there’s more!
SLEEPING PEOPLE RETURN WITH NEW EP AND TOUR!!!
Speaking of bands who specialize in long, complex songs [Mono] whom haven’t released an album in many years, Sleeping People are back! This 2-song LP features a pair of the longest and rock ingest songs the band have ever made. To celebrate their return, the band are playing four very special shows on the West Coast USA. If you are anywhere near the area, these are must-see shows! This new LP is strictly limited to 1,000 copies, and includes a free MP3 download coupon. The first 100 vinyl orders will receive the limited edition colored vinyl.
Right, so I’m a bit late with this one, but I found that Fang Island had done a really sweet instrumental EP back in 2008, and it’s worth listening to.
